Executive Director - CPST

Prof. Nyokabi Kamau

Professor Nyokabi Kamau is a distinguished Kenyan feminist, author, and academic leader. She serves as the Executive Director of the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST) in Kenya, where she focuses on enhancing the capacities of parliamentary staff and members.

In 2018, Professor Kamau published “Conversations about Gender: The Reflections of a Kenyan Feminist,” a booklet that explores gender issues from a Kenyan feminist perspective. The launch of this booklet led to the founding of “Intimate Conversations,” a network aimed at fostering discussions on gender and feminism among women.

“Intimate Conversations” serves as a platform for women to engage in meaningful dialogues on various topics, including personal development, societal challenges, and health issues. For instance, Episode 20 of the series addresses menopause, featuring a discussion with a fitness expert to provide insights and support for women undergoing this life stage.

Through her leadership at CPST and initiatives like “Intimate Conversations,” Professor Nyokabi Kamau continues to contribute significantly to the discourse on gender equality and women’s empowerment in Kenya.
CEO and Founder of Optiven Group

George Wachiuri

George Wachiuri is the CEO and Founder of Optiven Group, a leading Real Estate brand in Kenya.

He is also the Chairman and Trustee of Optiven Foundation, a soft-arm that is guided by four pillars namely; provision of education to needy children, poverty alleviation, promotion of health and environmental protection.

He has been at the forefront of empowering Kenyans and Africans in the Diaspora, especially to invest in the Real Estate sector. George is also a mentor, family man and celebrated author of three books.

Brian Kagunyi

Brian Njenga Kagunyi is a result-driven, detail-oriented Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with legal expertise in key sectors including Africa Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Energy & Infrastructure, Technology, Agribusiness, Telecoms, Consumer & Industrial Goods, and Tax.

He led or collaborated with others in a number of local, regional, and international corporate transactions.

Brian is currently the Managing Partner at B Kagunyi & Company Advocates, a firm that focuses of serving Kenyans in the diaspora, and was recently nominated among the top 75 most promising commercial lawyers in Kenya in 2023.

He is also listed in the UNFCCC Roster of Experts as climate change expert been nominated by Kenya. He strongly advocates for leveraged climate finance and security as tools for enhanced socio-economic inclusion.
Kenyan writer and poet

Wangū Mureithi

Wangū Mureithi is a Kenyan writer and poet known for her contributions to contemporary African literature. In her article “Great People Doing Great Things,” published on the Naivasha Substack, she highlights the impactful work of individuals striving to make a positive difference in their communities. Her writings often reflect a deep engagement with societal issues, aiming to inspire and provoke thoughtful conversations among readers.

Beyond her articles, Wangū’s poetry delves into themes of identity, culture, and social justice, offering nuanced perspectives on the challenges and triumphs within African societies. Her work has been featured in various literary platforms, contributing to the rich tapestry of African storytelling.

Through her literary endeavors, Wangū Mureithi continues to shed light on the narratives that shape contemporary African experiences, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the continent’s diverse voices.
